And I just re-confirmed, "Turn on convenience PIN sign-in" policy, under the path that I noted above and you confirmed, is enabled on this computer. The only one available is Picture Password. Yes, under Settings > Sign-in options, both Fingerprint "Set up" and PIN "Add" buttons are grayed out, after restart, etc. Neither has setting Settings > Privacy > Feedback & diagnostics > Diagnostics and usage data to "Enhanced" or higher, as suggested on several sites, or User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Start Menu and Taskbar\Notifications "Turn off toast notifications." as suggested in .Īnybody out there have a solution to this one? In gpedit.msc, I've set Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Biometrics "Allow domain users to log on using biometrics" and that hasn't fixed it. I've searched the web and so far no answers:

If the driver is already installed on your system, updating (overwrite-installing) may fix various issues, add new functions, or just upgrade to the available version. As a result, I can't set up the fingerprint scanner for login. The package provides the installation files for ELAN Fingerprint Driver version 1.5.7.1 for ASUS notebooks. Presumably this has something to do with the "Some settings are managed by your organization" banner in red at the top. I can't set up Windows Hello under Settings > Sign-in Options because the Fingerprint "Set up" button is grayed out. All users log in with domain credentials.

We mostly run Win 7 Pro in our org of about 60 computers, but we now have two new different models of computer (Thinkpad T460s and HP ZBook Studio) that are running Win 10 Pro Anniversary Update (all recent updates installed) and part of our domain (Server 2008 DC).
